About

Computer engineer, researcher, musician. Based in Copenhagen, doing a PhD at Aalborg University.

What I’m working on

My research focuses on Cloud-Connected Bionic Limbs, bringing 5G and edge computing to assistive robotics; think prosthetic hands with ultra-low latency cloud connectivity and real-time deep learning inference. The prosthetics space moves slowly, and I believe publishing openly is one way to push things forward.

Before the PhD, I did my M.Sc. in Informatics at the Technical University of Munich, where my thesis introduced two deep learning methods for Learning-Based Ultrasound Image Super-Resolution. Before that, I worked across AI, e-mobility simulation, and video processing at places like DFKI, BMW Group, and HAVELSAN.

How I think about building things

I build things because I think they should exist, not because I’m chasing validation. My open-source project QiTV/PiTV has users who just want to watch content they can’t access otherwise. I was that kid once; I love to see media from around the world.

I don’t always seek approval for what I make. During a computer vision internship, I realized that reCAPTCHA was essentially about the COCO dataset, built a YOLO-based solver as a proof of concept, and put it on GitHub. It wasn’t polished; I couldn’t even get the pixel-to-click part working. But it got 100+ stars because people understood the idea. Sometimes it’s about putting the concept out there. No need to pay journals for the privilege of sharing knowledge.

The PhD path

I graduated in 2023, right when companies were laying off juniors and hiring seniors at junior salaries. The market wasn’t there, so I started the PhD instead. Turned out to be the better path. The freedom to experiment, take courses outside my department, network with people from completely different fields, give talks at conferences; that’s been worth it.

The rest

I play guitar, make music, and take courses that have nothing to do with my department, from biophysical expression to musically embodied machine learning. More about all of that on the now page.

I try to deliver on what I commit to, share what I build openly, and support the people around me.
